Your initial breastfeeding consultation is a comprehensive 90-minute session designed to address any concerns you may have about feeding your baby. This visit is an opportunity to receive personalized support and guidance tailored to your unique situation.
What to Expect:
Assessment of Feeding: We will begin by evaluating a breastfeeding session to observe your baby’s latch, feeding patterns, and overall comfort. This hands-on assessment allows us to identify any challenges and ensure that both you and your baby are set up for success. This typically includes a weighted feed to assess milk transfer.
Addressing Concerns: Whether you have questions about latching, milk supply, or any discomfort you may be experiencing, this consultation provides a safe space to discuss your concerns. I will listen to your experiences and provide evidence-based solutions to help you feel more confident in your breastfeeding journey.
Creating a Personalized Plan: Based on our assessment and your specific needs, we will develop a tailored breastfeeding plan. This plan may include strategies for improving latch, tips for increasing milk supply, and recommendations for managing any challenges you may face.
Ongoing Support: I will ensure you leave the consultation with clear next steps and resources to support your breastfeeding goals. We can also discuss options for follow-up visits to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments to your plan.
By the end of our initial consultation, you will have a clearer understanding of your breastfeeding journey and the tools you need to nurture a successful feeding relationship with your baby.
